Fall, 2005
DEFORM-F2 is the 'next generation' replacement for DEFORM-PC after nearly eleven years in production. DEFORM-F3 provides an extremely easy-to-use three-dimensional simulation system for small to mid-sized companies moving into 3D simulation. A project summary of a task within the PRO-FAST Project is included. In this case, a thin walled pipe upsetting operation was optimized in the production of Mk 84 bomb cases.
Summer, 2005
DEFORM-3D has been used to model the process of tube piercing. A specialized updating algorithm using lagrangian and ALE has been developed to reduce computation time without sacrificing accuracy in this complex process. Simulating this process was impractical in the past. Additionally, a summary of DEFORM-3D / DEFORM-F3 version 5.1 and DEFORM-2D / DEFORM-F2 is included.

Spring, 2005
Heat transfer has been included in DEFORM, since its' inception in the late 1980's. Conduction, convection and radiation have a significant influence on material flow, microstructure, process times and product quality. In times of rapidly rising energy costs, heating times are being examined closely by leading companies. A review of heat transfer fundamentals and the influence of view factors is presented.

Winter, 2005
DEFORM developments continue to be based on user requirements. DEFORM-HT can be used to model grain size in superalloys. Developing optimum grain size is critical to the mechanical properties. An example of a 3D machining simulation is included.
