Post-event Report on
6th ASEAN ANSYS Conference (Theme: R & D – Are You Game?)
held in conjunction with Global Entrepolis @Singapore 2006
at Suntec Convention Centre 31 Oct to 2 Nov 2006
The 6th ASEAN Conference, a biennial event held by
CAD-IT saw the coming together of over 120 distinguished participants and
presenters from diverse industries locally and across the region.
The speech ‘R&D - Are You Game?’ reflecting the
theme of the conference was delivered by our Guest of Honor Mr. Inderjit Singh
(Chairman, GPC for Finance and Trade & Industry, Deputy Government WHIP, MP for
Ang Mo Kio GRC, CEO of Infiniti Solutions).
Mr. Inderjit Singh’s speech served to both challenge an inform participants
about the why’s and how’s of going about embracing an innovative mindset,
achieving breakthroughs in design, engineering and manufacturing processes,
carry out research and development activities, getting funding and support for
their organizations in their strive to develop higher value-add
products/services and achieve greater global competitiveness.
Students from
Teck Whye Secondary
School put up a most graceful Malay cultural dance item to welcome the arrival
of Mr. Inderjit Singh.

art paintings by students at our conference. They were also commissioned by
CAD-IT to produce all the conference gifts and certificates. TWSS’ principal,
Mr. Adrian Cordeiro and teacher Mr. Sean Gragory Jalleh’s joint presentation
entitled “Creative minds in the making” explained how their students are being
encouraged to use advanced technology like ANSYS by participating in CAD-IT’s
Innovation Camps as well as in their multi-faceted arts, design and technology
programs to create innovative works and products.

At the 6th AAC, presentations spanning from industries
such as Microelectronics, Chemical Processing, Environment, Defence,
Marine/Offshore, Biomedical, Consumer Products, Automotive, Data Storage,
Aerospace to Homeland Security were given. Technical Papers featuring a wide
range of ANSYS applications from CFD, Structural, Thermal and Multiphysics
applications were also presented.
It is heartening to note from Mr Inderjit Singh’s speech that the Singapore
government through SPRING has many schemes in place to assist Small Medium
Enterprises (SMEs) in their R & D investment, the focus and funding of which
will increase even more in the near future in view of the high priority that the
country places on high value-add activities.
From the feedback received at the end of the conference, we are greatly
encouraged to know that close to 100% of our participants have had their
objectives fulfilled and would like to attend more of CAD-IT’s events in the
future. Participants had an excellent time networking and learning about how
leading companies have succeeded from the successful deployment of ANSYS
technologies and the latest trends.
The conference held in conjunction with GES 2006
this year which attracted more than 10,000 delegates, provided our 6th
AAC participants with increased opportunities for networking as well as sourcing
for new innovations and business in the region through many activities held
during the 4 days.
What our participants say …
“The conference was well organized and well done.
Thanks for your hospitality and those networking free wine events were kind of
cool.”
-
Ravi Kumar, Regional Sales Director of Ansys
Inc.
“It’s an eye opener
especially for new user. Its a great opportunity for
the ANSYS community to network and share their
projects experiences and knowledge. Excellent job CAD-IT!
- Raymond
Ong, assistant manager of Tractors Singapore Limited
“ANSYS can be used for basic science research. One important point that I learnt
so far is that models that are simple are often more useful than those that are
complicated. The giving away of the certificate ceremony was memorable.”
- Goh Kheng Lim, Associate Professor of National Technological University
“It’s a good opportunity to share our
experience of ANSYS with other users and to know more applications of ANSYS
in other fields besides our own.”
- Zhou Yuanli, a Research Student at NTU
"I've obtained my
objectives in networking, socialization and understanding other users’ point
of view in ANSYS system and overall R&D scene”.
-
Girme Prasad Pandharinath, a senior
engineer of Venture Corporation Lim
Many Many thanks to CAD-IT for conducting this conference once in every 2
years without fail and brining ANSYS executives every time.
Good opportunity to know ANSYS beyond own technical area you are working.
