The conventional rotary component for marine propulsion, the propeller, is not always simple. Some marine applications require variable-pitch propellers; some propellers must be adjustable for navigation in close quarters. The installation may take a nontraditional form, such as shrouded or ducted. Propulsion may come from a water jet system.
