Compulsory Units

MEZ101 - Research Methodology  (32 hrs, 12 QUT credits)

Basic research methodology is an essential component for any student expected to undertake research. This unit provides the basic knowledge of research, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and a range of techniques to enable students to become critical users of existing knowledge as well as research findings. 

MEZ190 - Project (24 QUT credits)

In this unit a substantial piece of work relevant to the course is carried out by each student on an individual basis. A report is examined and marked by an academic supervisor in consultation with an industrial supervisor.

 

Group 1 Unit Options   

MEZ280 - Engineering Project Management (32 hrs, 12 QUT credits)

The aim of this unit is to provide students with an understanding of the underlying philosophy and practice of project management.

MEZ177 - Total Quality Management (32 hrs, 12 QUT credits)

This unit provides students with an understanding of the underlying philosophy and practice of TQM including learning some basic tools for quality control.

MEZ273 - Engineering Knowledge Management (32 hrs, 12 QUT credits)

This unit provides students with the skills in knowledge identification, knowledge development, knowledge preservation, knowledge representation and knowledge distribution in the corporate sector and the techniques associated with the design and development of knowledge management systems for engineering organizations.

 

Group 2 Unit Options   

Group 2 units offered are also Continuing Development (CPD) courses accredited by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.  See no. of PDUs below.

MEZ102 - Advanced FEA Modeling & Analysis (40 hrs, 12 QUT credits, 77 PDUs)

    The aim of this unit is to provide practical, fundamental to advanced knowledge and techniques that can help you to use FE analysis tools in dealing with engineering problems.

 MEZ103 - Introduction to Innovation Technology - 

                      Inventive Problem Solving in Engineering (40 hrs, 12 QUT credit, 21 PDUs)

The unit is concerned with theories of inventive problem solving and their application in engineering.  System of tools will be introduced for problem solving, idea generation, failure analysis and prevention.

MEZ104 - Plastic Injection Process and Theory (40 hrs, 12 QUT credits, 35 PDUs)

The unit is concerned with plastic injection process and theory.  The main emphasis is to control the quality of the plastic part.

MEZ105 - Automotive System Design and Analysis Chassis

                    and Suspension System (40 hrs, 12 QUT credits, 35 PDUs)

The aim of this unit is to provide fundamental and practical knowledge and techniques that can help you to improve the research and development of automotive systems such as, chassis, suspension, steering system.

MEZ106 - Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics:

                    Modeling Applications (40 hrs, 12 QUT credit, 42 PDUs)

This unit aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the CFD method and, in addition, the issues of turbulent flow modeling and multiphase flow modeling will be discussed in detail.

MEZ107 - Product Lifecycle Management (40 hrs, 12 QUT credits,35 PDUs)

This unit builds the foundations of a new paradigm for product development, realization, use and management.  Students will have a holistic view of the PLM approach, with the ability to participate in the real PLM process implementation.

      Please note that the unit code names MEZ106 & MEZ107 are undergoing university confirmation
