The 7th
ASEAN ANSYS Conference, a biennial event held by CAD-IT saw the coming
together of over 150 distinguished participants and presenters from
diverse industries across South East Asia.
The
speech
‘Inspiring Engineering For A Clean & Green World’, reflecting
the theme of the conference, was delivered by our Guest of Honour Er.
Lee Bee Wah (MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Deputy Chairman of the GPC for
Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Environment and Water
Resources, President of IES, Principal Partner of LBW Consultants LLP,

Er. Lee Bee Wah’s
keynote address was insightful and helpful as it offered participants a
deeper understanding of the green initiatives undertaken and funding
made available by the various ministries and government bodies for local
companies. Her challenge to all to be environmentally-conscious left
the audience inspired to do our bit for our planet. Her green message
was reinforced by a presentation on Wind Energy as a key renewable
energy source by Vestas and CAD-IT’s presentation of how water resources
can be more efficiently and effectively managed through the use of ANSYS.
Mr. Fadi Ben Achour,
Director of Industry Marketing, Electronics, from ANSYS, Inc. and Dr.
Grama Bhashyam, Corporate Fellow from ANSYS, Inc. enlightened the
audience with updates on the upcoming ANSYS Release 12.0 and Industry
Spotlight sessions covering ANSYS in Electronics and ANSYS in Marine.
Their talks were a key highlight of the conference for many
participants as the deep knowledge and vast experience shared were
invaluable.

such as
Electronics, Renewable Energy, Marine & Offshore, Automotive, Defense,
Education, Research featuring the full
spectrum of ANSYS applications from CFD, Structural, Thermal, Emag and
Multiphysics applications were given. Participants were indeed impressed
with the unparalleled breadth and unequalled depth of the ANSYS solutions,
so evident in the numerous success stories shared.
The
audience’s curiosity was piqued when Mr. Zamir Abdul Rashid,
Applications Consultant from CAD-IT, explained
how CFD simulation was used to settle a court case involving insurance
claims pertaining to damages a warehouse sustained during Hurricane
Katrina, once again affirming the role of engineering simulation as a
means for incident reconstruction, enabling forensic scientists &
engineers to discover the truth.

SIMTech's A*CAR Consortium, receiving a token of appreciation after sharing
on automotive
trends in Singapore. |
|
Academic staff and research students from various institutions, such as
National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University
(NTU) and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) from Singapore,
Thammasat University and Kasetsart University from Thailand, as well as
University
Kebangsaan Malaysia also turned out in force.
A total of twelve technical presentations from these tertiary
institutions were featured, a result of CAD-IT and ANSYS’ relentless
support for the education sector in developing technology and industry
leaders of tomorrow, savvy with the use of engineering simulation in the
product development and innovation process.

In
addition, the plethora of ANSYS brochures and demonstrations on display
at the CAD-IT booth underscores the fact that ANSYS offers the widest
range of engineering simulation solutions, that are proven and embraced
by the largest engineering simulation community across the largest
number of industry sectors in the world today.
The 7th
ASEAN ANSYS Conference ended with a lucky draw with prizes sponsored by
Microsoft and ANSYS as the grand finale. The top prize, Microsoft Xbox
360 with a Limited Edition of the game Halo 3 was won by Ms. Hoe Heoy
Geok from University Kebangsaan Malaysia while the second prize went to
Mr. Catur Indra Pratisto from Aalborg Industries. Three ANSYS ED worth
U$ 250 each were also awarded to 3 lucky winners. While the lucky draw
has its winners, it is undeniable that everyone who attended the
conference was a winner as well, in view of the excellent time for
networking, learning and sharing.

CAD-IT
is grateful to all our valued guests for their presence and
participation - sharing their vision for simulation in their
organizations, their experience in deploying ANSYS, the challenges they
faced, and benefits they derived as well as the latest trends in the
engineering arena.
From
the feedback received at the end of the conference, CAD-IT is greatly
encouraged to know that close to 100% of our participants have had
their objectives fulfilled and nearly three-quarters would like to
attend more of CAD-IT’s events in the future. We would like to say a big
THANK YOU to all participants and presenters for making this
possible. We also look forward to an even more successful 8th
AAC in the time to come

One big
